- Leaker Kosutami has claimed that Airtag 2 is launched in “May or June”
- It sets up with a similar claim from reporter Mark Gurman
- Airtag 2 could contain longer range and vision pro -integration
Apple’s airtag is a popular way to keep track of your valuables but it has not been updated since it was first launched in 2021. The drought could well come to an end this year as a leak has claimed that a new version launched for the next few months.
The information comes from Leaker Kosutami, who said in a post of X that Apple is planning to launch a next generation airpage in “May or June.” Kosutami has shared accurate information in the past, including that the iPhone 16 Pro would come with a battery encased in metal, but they have also had some missed.
Still their demands match a made of Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman in November 2024. At that time, Gurman said Apple was planning to release a new airtag “around the middle of next year” with “Next Year” with reference to 2025.
Kosutami’s prediction sets it from Gurman, which is May or June about mid -2025. So with Android’s Find My Device Sporers that are starting to improve over the past six months, what can we expect from an airtag 2?
What can one expect from airtag 2
If airtag 2 has really been set up to mid -year, it would make sense for Apple to reveal it on its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). This event falls in June and often contains product messages, so it would make sense for Apple to include the new Airtag during the event.
The latest airtag 2 rumors from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggested that the tracker would “offer better reach, strengthen the wireless chip on board and improve privacy” compared to the first generation.
This wireless chip could be another generation of Ultra Broadband Number from Apple, while Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has claimed that the new airtag could be integrated with the Vision Pro headset somehow. It would not be a huge deal in view of Vision Pro’s widely reported challenges, but we are definitely interested in the claims of improved range (which is currently between 10m-30m local or practically unlimited if there is someone with an iPhone in The proximity).
With another delicious who backs up Gurman and claims that Airtag 2 is only a few months away from launch, we are likely to start to see more leaks fooling out soon. If you are considering buying an airtag, it may be wise to endure for now – given a sequel is probably only a few months away.
