New police station created to the airport area

Rawalpindi:

Following the inclusion of areas surrounding the new Islamabad International Airport within the administrative limits of Rawalpindi district, a new airport police station has been established and a station house manager (SHO) has been appointed.

A temporary building for the police station has been rented on the motorway link. However, a permanent structure will later be constructed after acquiring land on or near the airport road.

When the new Islamabad International Airport became operational, its terminal building, runway and funnel area tightened three different jurisdictions: Attock district, Rawalpindi district and parts of Islamabad Capital Territory. Legally, only the new airport police station in Attock had jurisdiction over the airport area.

However, given the security of security and the need for gathering jurisdiction, the government awarded full administrative control over the airport and its surrounding areas to Rawalpindi district last year. Therefore, it was decided to set up a new airport police station specifically for the airport and adjacent areas.

It has been learned that the new police station has been formed by sharing jurisdiction for the Naseerabad police station, especially areas previously under its Hameedan police position.
