Karachi:
In a movement to improve transparency and professionalism within the Sindh Police Department, IG Ghulam Nabi Memon has issued a new standard operating procedure (SOP) that controls the appointment and transfer of SHOs throughout the province.
The revised policy mandates that only officers who have completed the Overcolley Course are entitled to SHO postings, while those facing corruption charges or serious criminal cases are automatically disqualified.
According to the new SOP, the power to appoint Sho’s has been delegated to the respective district’s SSP. A committee consisting of the range You and SSP will oversee the process to ensure justice and accountability. Similarly, each designated SHO will earn a minimum period in one year, preventing extraordinary circumstances such as wrongdoing, poor performance or physical inability.
Furthermore, officers will not be published as SHOs in their home districts without prior approval from IG SINDH. No officer can be relocated to the same police station within three years of their previous task there.
Shos can only be transferred before ending their tenure in the event of corruption, inefficiency or long -term official investigations exceeding 30 days. Officers removed under such conditions will be unwarranted to SHO re -appointment for at least one year.
Outgoing SHOs must formally transfer all official items and property to their successors and ensure a smooth transition.
The police training and establishment wing has been instructed to complete regular professional development courses to improve officers’ skills.
Instant implementation
Immediately across all districts and zones in Sindh. The message also clarifies that no officer can use this policy to demand preference posting at specific police stations.
This reform is part of IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon’s broader efforts to institutionalize meritocracy and the front of police.
The move has been welcomed by law enforcement experts who see it as a step towards restoring public confidence in the strength.
