A new NEW Strands puzzle appears at midnight every day for your time zone – meaning some people always play ‘today’s game’ while others play ‘yesterday’s’. If you’re looking for the Thursday puzzle instead then click here: NEW Strand’s Hints and Answers for Thursday, October 16 (Game #592).

NEW Strands today (game #593) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #593, are…
- CAPE
- CAVORT
- GALUMP
- SCUTTLE
- TRAIPS
- PRAISE
- SPANGRAM: SILLYWALKS
- My assessment: Hard
- My score: 1 tip
Fun topic aside, this was a really difficult game that included several words that I had heard of but never had a reason to spell.
Fortunately, I discovered plenty of non-game words and a hint gave me CAPER, which jump-started my slow progress around the board.
I immediately thought the theme referred to walking styles, but it wasn’t until I got the spanframe that I realized the category was SILLYWALKS.
I’m sure this search went well in the Czech city of Brno, as they organize a Silly Walks Festival every March in honor of Monty Python sketch, Ministry of Silly Wanderings. But I can’t help but be offended that TRAIPSE is considered “stupid” since that’s something I’m often told I do – being someone who isn’t happy to walk at anything resembling speed.
