NEW Strands today (game #610) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #610, are…
- Went
- MARKET
- BECAME
- HOME
- ROAST
- BEEF
- NO
- SPANGRAM: THE LITTLE PIGGY
- My rating: Easy
- My score: Perfect
The longest spangram in a long time took up a good portion of the board and twisted from the middle to the bottom right.
The theme was obvious from the start though, with WENT, MARKET, STAYED and HOME all bumping up against each other like a baby’s toes.
The line “this little pig had roast beef” has always puzzled me. Would a pig ever eat roast beef, even one wearing a shirt and tie and going to market?
The truth, of course, like many nursery rhymes, is rooted in the macabre, and the little pig that went to market had to go to the slaughterhouse, and the pig that ate roast beef was force-fed. No wonder they walked all the way home tiny.
Yesterday’s NYT Strand’s Answer (Sunday, November 2nd, Game #609)
- START
- PACE
- END
- RUNNING
- HYDRATION
- TIME GUARD
- SPANGRAM: MARATHON
