NEW Strands today (game #627) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #627, are…
- RUMOR
- GOSSIP
- REPORT
- HEARING
- SPAN FRAME: SPREADTHORD
- My assessment: Hard
- My score: 1 tip
The theme left little doubt what we were looking for, but after getting RUMORS and GOSSIP pretty quickly I hit a wall so I got a hint.
My hint word, REPORT, opened HEARSAY and immediately I saw the words “spread” and “word”, although it took me until the end of the game to join them together with “the” to form the spangram.
It was a great pleasure to have the last word. What a great word SCUTTLEBUTT is – worth doing this search to find it alone – and definitely one that should return to common parlance. All this naughty talk about spilling tea and washing out dirt, it’s all just dirt.
Yesterday’s NYT Strand’s Answer (Wednesday, November 19, Game #626)
- IMAM
- RABBI
- PROPHET
- BUDDHA
- MONK
- PRIEST
- SPANGRAM: RELIGIOUS FIGURES
