The answers to today’s Strands, game #660, are…
- COOL
- FREEZING

A quick and easy game with an obvious theme and some easy early spots.
As you know, Finland has 23 different words for snow, but I’d say the English language comes pretty close when it comes to describing COLD weather.
Many of the words describing NOTSOHOT conditions were absent from today’s word search, including nippy, frosty, brisk, bitter, arctic and my favourite, which may not have reached common parlance outside the UK, “taters”, often combined with the phrase “it’s taters sarge”, an idiom derived from Cockney kold or perhaps nobody who knows slang for potato, rhyme.
Yesterday’s NYT Strand’s Answer (Monday, December 22, Game #659)
- SCARF
- BOOK
- LIGHT
- THE GADGET
- WINE
- LOTION
- EARRINGS
- SPANGRAM: REGISTRATION
