NEW Strands today (game #723) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #723, are…
- ENCYCLOPEDIA
- DIRECTORY
- THESAURUS
- DICTIONARY
- SPANGRAM: LOOKITUP
- My assessment: Easy
- My score: Perfect
The very first thing that came to mind when I saw the “just for reference” theme was ENCYCLOPEDIA – possibly the hardest word to memorize in the Strands game, and one that was spotted instantly.
DIRECTORY was a bit more difficult, but with only four game words and a diagonal spangram neatly dividing the board, the biggest challenge today was connecting the letters of THESAURUS correctly.
Although versions of all four of these reference materials exist in multiple formats, I find it hard to imagine them as anything other than books from the pre-digital age. There are lots of benefits to this – especially the joy of the random page turning and learning a new fact or word.
Yesterday’s NYT Strand’s Answer (Monday, February 23, Game #722)
- BRIDGE
- BODY
- GRIP WIDTH
- NECK
- MAIN STOCK
- PEGS
- CORD
- SPANGRAM: GUITAR
