NEW Strands today (game #688) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #688, are…
- HEEL
- TONGUE
- VAMP
- SOLE
- LACE
- LOGO
- THE EYE
- SPANGRAM: JUSTFORKICKS
- My rating: Easy
- My score: Perfect
For the second game in a row, I saw the spanframe first – although to be perfectly honest I “just” saw first and kept connecting JUSTFORKICS – and finished the themed mystery in a second.
Of all the different parts of a sneaker in today’s puzzle, the VAMP is the one that’s new to me, and I now know that’s the word for the small area between the toe box and the quarter panel that contains the eyelets.
During my research for sneaker parts, I also learned that the area above the heel notch, and often the section that houses the LOGO, is called a mustache. For me, this is the area that often rubs when I break in a new pair, so now I can tell anyone who cares that my mustache rubs.
Yesterday’s NYT Strand’s Answer (Monday, January 19, Game #687)
- VIBRATE
- SKEWED
- WOULD
- SWAY
- TREMBLING
- WHICH
- TEETERS
- SPANGRAM: LIGHT ROCK
