NEW Strands today (game #604) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #604, are…
- ERASER
- FILLING
- GRAPHITE
- CEDAR TREE
- SHARPENING
- SPANGRAM: PENCIL MEN
- My assessment: Hard
- My score: 1 tip
I struggled with today’s search, mainly because I got the wrong idea of what the “Writing thing” was referring to.
After getting lots of non-game words, I found ERASER and REFILL as I circled the game and the crown finally dropped. Seeing the word “pencil” and it not turning light blue was a puzzle. It took me getting a hint word – GRAPHITE – and then I only had the spanframe left on the board before I could find it.
Until today I had never thought about what wood pencils are made of, but I have since learned that CEDARWOOD was preferable as it sharpens easily.
However, I have also discovered the raging debate about the future of pencils due to the unsustainability of cedar and the threat posed by plastics and springs.
Yesterday’s NYT Strand’s Answer (Monday, October 27, Game #603)
- THE AMULET
- POTION
- CHARM
- SAFE
- INCANTATION
- BOILER
- SPANGRAM: Sorcery
