As obvious as it looks in the rearview mirror, it took me two words before I realized that today’s theme was a tribute to the world’s fathers, with a selection of words with either pa, papa, dad or pop.
I spent a while wondering what Mexican food (chalupa) has to do with seafood (crawdad) before I got it.
Although there is a mood that Father’s Day is just a holiday to generate some summer contains for the greeting map industry, I say that any day that allows you to appreciate the family is a good thing.
However, I think some companies go too far and try to climb on board that Dad is training – chocolate and whiskey is one thing, but a department store I was last week had a sign next to a desktop printer who said “Give your dad what he really wants this father’s day”. I think I can talk on behalf of most fathers when I say that what we really want is not a printer.

What is new threads?
Strands is Nyt’s non-new-new-more word games after Wordle and connections. It is now a fully expanded member of Nyt’s Games Stable, which has been running for a year and can be played on the new Games website on desktop or mobile.
