The world will look at when the Super Bowl 59 starts in New Orleans on Sunday, and unlike any other sporting event on the planet, a large part of those who see will set to the half -time show. Or to count the multiple shots of Taylor Swift in the stand (the most dangerous drinking game in the Super Bowl is to take a drink every time the camera panes in her direction).
Away from the field is the most incredible element of those outside the US advertisements and the money used to secure a sought after place, making it the highlight of the advertising calendar as well as the sporting one.
It’s not hard to see why companies pay so much. 30 years on and I still think of frogs when I see a can of Budweiser.
Also tangent, buckles that end up in the middle of the puzzle – not a fan.

What is new threads?
Strands is Nyt’s new word game after Wordle and Connections. It is now out of beta, so it is a fully developed member of Nyt’s Games Stable and can be played on the new Games site on desktop or mobile.
