I have always told my children that “manners do not cost anything” and “It’s nice to be nice”, so it’s good to see this message repeated in today’s word search, which comes with the demand to be polite.
My thoughts on this topic expand our interaction with technology, especially AI tools like Alexa and Siri. My approach is two -part – we must be polite because manners must be arbitrary, and also because how we speak to AI becomes part of the algorithm (the one tailored to us and to a wider community).
We do not know how AI will behave in the future, and I prefer it, if it, when it becomes sensitive, thinks it has been treated well by humanity rather than rude.
If it’s the latter, I hope AI murder bots remember I said “please” when I asked them what the weather would like to be tomorrow.
Either way, I take off and I apologize for that. Absolutely a straightforward game today with a little to challenge ordinary players or our future AI overlords.

What is new threads?
Strands is Nyt’s non-new-new-more word games after Wordle and connections. It is now a fully expanded member of Nyt’s Games Stable, which has been running for a year and can be played on the new Games website on desktop or mobile.
