Today’s threads were foultically difficult, partly because of the words.
The theme gave me a great idea of what we were looking for, but I still needed a tip to get started.
After being gifted double, I discovered copy, and it separately as non-playing words before splitting them together to make up the spangram.
I love the idea that Dopelgangers are roaming around the world unaware of a replica version that lives their lives thousands of miles away. When I was a kid, my dad bought a holiday brochure back that had what I thought was a photo of my mother and sister on the front – except it wasn’t.
This brochure was shown to everyone who visited for years and they were all astonishing at the resemblance. Recently, I found it on a visit to a drawer and was shocked at what the picture was – unlike them – I had just been seduced by the idea of it.
I wonder if my Doppelganger plays threads right now …

What is new threads?
Strands is Nyt’s non-new-new-more word games after Wordle and connections. It is now a fully expanded member of Nyt’s Games Stable, which has been running for a year and can be played on the new Games website on desktop or mobile.
