Happy birthday, threads – I knew you when you were a little beta -word puzzle and you haven’t changed yourself at all.
Well, it is not strictly true – for something that follows a basic word search format, Strands manages to be far more challenging than the sum of its parts, and because it is often confusing hard (someone remembers the diacritics voltage from last year?) It makes the player feel far wiser than they should do when it is easier (as Cereal).
I love it for its coincidence, simplicity and quirks for its frustrations, strange cultural differences and constant reminder that my spelling is appalling.

What is new threads?
Strands is Nyt’s non-new-new-more word games after Wordle and connections. It is now a fully expanded member of Nyt’s Games Stable, which has been running for a year and can be played on the new Games website on desktop or mobile.
