New -threads today (game #353) – the answers
The answers to today’s threads, game #353, is …
- Elderly
- STRAW
- Huckle
- BLUE
- Grater
- SALMON
- GOLDEN
- BLACK
- Spanggram: Berries
- My rating: Moderate
- My score: 1 tip
Interestingly, berries are a linguistic invention, and many languages other than English do not collect these little fruits in a single food family and instead have unique words for strawberries, raspberries, etc.
The truth is that they are not related at all. The word berries come from Latin to grape – but we do not think of grapes like berries – and were just used to describe small fruits. Meanwhile, to add the confusion what some people think is a huckleberry, other people think of like a blueberry.
Like mushrooms, berries are an area you need to be careful if you feed in the wild. Many varieties, including the elderly, give you a very disturbed stomach, while some, including Virginia Creeper -berries, can be deadly to humans. Maybe it would be a good idea not to give them a name that includes the same suffix as things that are delicious.
How did you do today? Tell me that in the comments below.
