New Strands Today (Game #367) – The answers
The answers to today’s threads, game #367, is …
- Beagle
- Bounty
- Titanic
- VICTORY
- Mayflower
- Spangram: Historic ships
- My rating: Moderate
- My score: 1 tip
At 13 letters, today’s excitement was a giant snake that took a significant part of the puzzle – and wonderfully it took the form of a ship that nodded to the answer to historic ships. This is a nice idea, but unfortunately one that would only work in a few thread puzzles; If new can gather tension that looks like gluten -free or love it is much smarter than I am.
It probably says a lot about my lack of historical nautical knowledge that even though the only space I had left at the end was for Mayflower, I still tried to spell a ship called wolfyamre before I saw the obvious.
Of all the vessels mentioned, only one intact today – Beagle, which Charles Darwin sailed remained was broken up; Bounty was burned by Mutineers; Titanic hit an iceberg; And the tree from Mayflower was used to build a farm.
Meanwhile, HMS Victory, built in 1758, survived and participated in the War of Independence and the Napoleonic Wars, Herjinger of the Time and is preserved as a museum ship in Portsmouth, England. I visited it on a school trip once. All I can remember is someone stole my lunched lunch and I had to make it through the day on an apple. Hard times.
How did you do today? Tell me that in the comments below.
