NEW Strands today (game #749) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #749, are…
- ZIPPER
- THERMOSES
- ESCALATOR
- ASPIRIN
- DUMPSTER
- SPANGRAM: GENERIC TERM
- My assessment: Easy

Today’s search celebrates the brand names that became so popular that they ended up being the word we all used to describe them.
Many of these products became so ubiquitous that people didn’t know they were brands in the first place – that’s certainly the case with me and DUMPSTER. And, of course, once the TRADEMARK has expired, any major metal dumpster manufacturer can call their product a DUMPSTER.
When I saw the letter Z I came to a flyer today and along with the theme I immediately guessed what we were looking for; which, however, did not stop the attempt to submit SMORE.
Yesterday’s NYT Strand’s Answer (Saturday, March 21, Game #748)
- SCHNOZZLE
- MOUSE
- SNOW
- HUTTER
- BEAK
- PROBOSCIS
- SPANGRAM: ONTHENOSE
