The hint I used to get myself to go today wasn’t really much help as tiles could have just as easily applied to things you can tie to a table.
Then I saw Domino hiding in the sight and the rest was a straightforward mission looking for game pieces – closer to playing Connect Four against a cat than sinking a battleship.
I love a board game and I am happy to play the loser while learning all the rules and movements.
Sometimes, as with backgammon and chess, it’s a process that lasted years. I like to believe that I have risen beyond the competitiveness of a zen-like state of game meal. But then I actually win a game and turn into a 12-year-old abruptly who asks their opponent how they like them apples. Boo-ya.

What is new threads?
Strands is Nyt’s non-new-new-more word games after Wordle and connections. It is now a fully expanded member of Nyt’s Games Stable, which has been running for a year and can be played on the new Games website on desktop or mobile.
