Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day and one of the greatest days of the year for producers, creators and greeting card providers.
I get why you would send a card to someone you would be in a relationship with. To get the most out of their biggest shot to turn a profit out of Christmas, companies like Hallmark have convinced us that we need to tell our partners that we love them in card format – even if we see them every day And can tell them our feelings in a way that is much more personal than sending them a folded piece of paper with a picture of a train next to the words “I choose you”.
The alternative view is that greeting cards are a nice thing and who would not have a card that tells them that they are loved and worth sticking to, despite it all. Signed the romance Grinch.

What is new threads?
Strands is Nyt’s new word game after Wordle and Connections. It is now out of beta, so it is a fully developed member of Nyt’s Games Stable and can be played on the new Games site on desktop or mobile.
