The letter Z made Zany easy to find today, but I was too distracted to try – and failed – to connect ‘crazy’ that I did not come with bisarr until closer to the end.
Q was another letter that made our lives easier here and quirky along with Madcap managed to show us where the excitement was.
Of all these descriptions for a person who is “far from ordinary”, eccentric is the one you would choose if the question was “which attribute would you most like with someone you are caught in a lift with an hour”?
The rest all carry an element of risk, danger or the possibility that you might be stuck with a juggler. An eccentric person is often someone with a few unusual habits or views and is far less likely to wear a chainsaw or a clown’s nose.

What is new threads?
Strands is Nyt’s non-new-new-more word games after Wordle and connections. It is now a fully expanded member of Nyt’s Games Stable, which has been running for a year and can be played on the new Games website on desktop or mobile.
