“Stand By Me” could have referred to Ben E King Song or the 1987 movie with River Phoenix. Instead, we were looking for words that describe the act of standing by someone and offering them support at some point in need.
I’ll take off but know to google the movie Stand by me I noticed that its runttime was an hour and 27 minutes, something that seems incredible today in our era with ultra-long movies and similar ultra-long TV episodes. The length of a movie is a big decisive factor for me in whether I bother to go to a theater to see it or not. Too long and I will usually show out.
Fortunately, my attention span was less challenged by today’s threads, which – who – disregarding some long words – was a straightforward affair.

What is new threads?
Strands is Nyt’s non-new-new-more word games after Wordle and connections. It is now a fully expanded member of Nyt’s Games Stable, which has been running for a year and can be played on the new Games website on desktop or mobile.
