A few weeks have passed since the New York Jets revealed their intentions to move on from Aaron Rodgers.
“…. We met with Aaron and shared that our intention was to move in a different direction at Quarterback,” said newly hired Jets head coach Aaron Glenn and General Manager Darren Mougey in a joint statement on February 13.
Glenn was in Indianapolis this week for the annual NFL scouting combination, where he acknowledged that the franchise’s decision to share ways with veteran -quarterback left some jets players “disturbed”.

Quinnen Williams was among those who seemed to reject Rodgers’ departure, with three-time pro bowl-defensive Lineman using a thumb-down emoji on social media after news about the split appeared. Williams also wrote, “Another reconstruction year for me I assume,” On X, formerly known as Twitter, in a seemingly reaction to Jets’ decision.
Glenn said he had a private discussion with Williams about his reaction. He also made it clear that Jets’ priority is winning football matches.

“Yes, I’ve talked to him,” Glenn told journalists. “And listen, I understand the players’ reaction but i will say this: any decision, like me and [general manager Darren Mougey] Make is to win and win now.
“So I understand it, but again: Listen, this will not be the last decision I make that will interfere with some people and it is ok. But as men we are talking about it. We make sure we keep it internally and that is what we will continue to do.”
After his campaign in 2023 was cut off by an injury, Rodgers played in all 17 games this last season. While ending with 28 touchdowns against 11 interceptions, his overall performance did not seem to meet Jets’ expectations.

Jets finished with a 5-12 record. Mougey also addressed reports that Said Rodgers got an “Ultimatum” about his appearances at “The Pat McAfee Show.”
“I want to say this – there was never an ultimatum or a rules for commitment to Aaron to potentially join Jets,” Mougey said. “It never happened. Ag and I had a lot of dialogue, a lot of conversations, a lot of good thoughts and just felt at the end of the day it was the best thing for jets that went ahead, going in a different direction in the quarterback position.”
Rodgers have not yet made any public comments about his collapse with Jets. Mougey said the team expects to appoint the Super Bowl -winning signal caller as a clip on June 1st. The move gives Jets the opportunity to divide the salary tackle into a two-year period.
Also on the combine, Glenn doubled on his statements from his initial press conference to mark a large number of root-related questions.

“I don’t want to respect any of the players we have on our team, and it kind of P — Ess me and some of the other players that we are all talking about,” Glenn said. “You have quinnen williams, you have quincy williams, you have a AVT [Alijah Vera-Tucker] And now you have Joe Tippmann. All of these guys must be respected as far as winning games as well. “
Rodgers’ exit leaves Jets Quarterback room thin. Veteran -Backup Tyrod Taylor remains under contract with the team. Glenn described Taylor as “a good player” but did not stop declaring him as the team’s starting for 2025.
Jets currently have No. 7 selection in next month’s NFL draft.
