“I found out when everyone else found out,” Pickens said via CBS Sports. “I’m fine. I like Mojo here. I like Swag. There are a lot of new players I’ve met. I feel like they have a good thing, for sure.”

Pickens added that he did not request a trade out of Pittsburgh despite rumors throughout the high season. Steelers fans began to speculate when the pickens no longer followed the team on Instagram.

“This game is as much a business as it is football,” Pickens said. “It’s a bit like out of my control. I’m glad to be here in Dallas and able to continue the winning culture they have.”

While the pickens were undoubtedly the best receiving opportunity for Pittsburgh for the past three seasons, head coach Mike Tomlin called out the pickens out after the spotted and unsports -like sanctions. The pickens also came into arguments with fans in the stands.

“You just have to grow up, man,” Tomlin said last season. “It’s an emotional game. These division games are big. He has a goal on his back because he is George. He understands it, but he has to grow up. He has to grow up in a hurry.”

Tomlin made these comments after Steelers ’44 -38 victory on the road in week 13, when pickens were assessed to tighten and unsports-like behavioral penalties.

While Pickens understands that his past actions open him for criticism, he is ready for the next chapter of his career.

“I feel like everyone in the world is working to grow on their improvement in themselves,” he said. I feel like growth for me is to take a big direction in me that comes to cowboys. ”
