California Government Head of General Gavin Newsom’s press office released an X post on Wednesday relating to the recent trial of the US Ministry of Justice against the California Department of Education (CDE) and California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) of alleged title IX offenses.

In the position, the press office made sure to clarify that Newsom is not named in the trial.

“Since many people here have become legal experts in the last few hours, it is not named that the governor is named as a party to this trial,” the post read.

The post did not treat morality by allowing biological men in girls sports. However, the position defended the state’s current handling of the situation and argued against how President Donald Trump’s administration has tried to apply title IX in practice.

“The California Department of Education (CDE) and CIF are both * independent * from the Newsom administrator, and they follow the existing state law -a law passed in 2013, signed by Governor Jerry Brown, and in line with 21 other states. No court has passed the interpretation of the title IX, which is provided by Trump -administrator law, not personal opinion,” the post.

“No court has adopted the interpretation of title IX, presented by the Trump administrator, and neither the governor nor they, they make them waved a magical stake and override it – unlike Donald Trump, California follows the law, not personal opinions.”

The post was criticized on X.

On Tuesday, Newsom was again asked about his thoughts on transient athletes competing in girls and women’s sports.

“I struggled with the question of justice when it came to sports,” he said at an event in South Carolina. “And we tried to find out a couple of years ago and we were not successful and we recently struggled with it.

“And my attitude is that I don’t think it’s fair, but I also think it’s degrading to talk down to people and break down the trans community. And I don’t like the way the right wing talks about the trans community. These people will just survive.”

Newsom said in a statement that CDE and CIF followed laws passed in 2013.

DOJ’s lawsuit asks for an injunction of state policy that allows men to compete against women in sports.

California’s policy “Exactly Athletic Opportunities for Girls … They also require girls to share intimate spaces, such as changing rooms, with boys causing a hostile educational environment that denies girls educational opportunities,” the trial said.

“The results of these illegal policies are sharp: Girls are displaced from podiums, denied prices and miss critical visibility for university scholarships and recognition.”

The state’s current policy allows athletes to participate in sports “in accordance with” their gender identity. State officials have maintained that this does not conflict with the equal protective clause in the fourteenth amendment.

CIF told Pakinomist Digital that it does not comment on legal questions.

CDE had no comments on pending litigation.

The US Education Department recently found California in violation of section IX. However, CDE and CIF both declined to sign the proposed decision -making agreement offered by the department late last month. CDE and CIF were given until July 7 to meet demand. They refused, and now a legal battle will arise.

It will be the second legal battle that DOJ is fighting for the question, after launching a similar to Maine back in April.
