NFL examines how the latest Cleveland Browns Quarterback Shedeur Sanders’ phone number used for the NFL draft was leaked, which led him to be called, a league official confirmed with Pakinomist Digital.
During the day 2 of the 2025 NFL draft, video was viral on social media by Sanders, the Colorado Buffaloes star, who received a call on a phone specifically used at the moment.
Sanders expressed concern for potential prank calls before the draft, so he said Boost Mobile sent him a new phone with a number released only to NFL leaders.

However, the video showed Quarterback talking to someone mimicking New Orleans Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis.
“It’s been a long wait, man,” the prank calling was heard in the video. “We’ll take you with our next choice, man, but you’ll have to wait a little longer, man. Sorry.”

Another video made his rounds on the social media of the man suspected of calling Sanders. He reads a script on his lap, and one side by side video of the two conversations seems to match with Sanders’ own video of the situation.
Sanders was confused after the person hung on, and so was the amount of friends and family around him.
“What does that mean?” Said Sanders.
He ended his live stream on Twitch shortly thereafter.
Sanders eventually got a real call from Brown’s General Manager Andrew Berry, who told him to call his name with election # 144 in the fifth round.

“It didn’t really have an impact on me because it was like, I mean, ok, as if I’m not feeding negativity or I don’t feed it.” Sanders told Cleveland Media about Prank Call via ESPN. “You’ve looked at Deion [Sanders] JR’s YouTube video. My reaction to that, I don’t – that’s what it is. I think, of course, it’s childish. Of course, I feel like it was a childish act, but everyone does childish things here and there. “
Sanders’ new principal coach Kevin Stefanski said “people are morons” when asked about the prank call.
After the prank top, the saints ended up choosing Louisville’s Tyler Shough with the 40th total selection – again, a quarterback that was not named Sanders. Two more would go on day 2 – Jalen Milroe and Sanders’ Brown’s classmate, Dillon Gabriel.

Sanders’ fall in this year’s draft is easily the top story after the three long days in Green Bay. He was expected to be a first round of picking, top 10 at one point, but he fell all the way to the fifth round, with many statements and reported why that may be the case.
