Former Ohio State Buckeyes Quarterback Will Howard’s hope of joining an NFL team in the draft next month suffered an obstacle as he had questionable throws at the scouting competition.
Howard seemed to put the memory of unanswered throws behind him with a solid performance at Ohio State Pro Day on Wednesday. He is still unlikely to be a first round choice, but a quarterback needle team may be looking at him as a choice of late round.

In the midst of the hoopla of how he appeared on the NFL scouting combination, Howard said it might have been Michigan Wolverines fans that began overreactions.
“The combination, of course, there were some things that were said about it afterwards, but I thought I was doing pretty well,” he said via WBNS-TV. “I think it really was, it was with North’s fans that jumped it out of proportions. I obviously missed two throws, but other guys did too.
Why the 2025 NFL draft is made to mimic Eagles’ Championship Formula

“Obviously, it’s definitely better to be here in this building with my guys. You are more comfortable, but you will always put yourself in unpleasant situations. I wasn’t mad at it. I thought I did well with the combine and I got good feedback from people except the media. That’s what it is, it’s part of it.”
Howard’s own analysis was more in line with what the NFL Network Draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah said about it during the training in March.
He said Howard had a “solid” combined performance despite some of his balls looking “flat”. He added that Howard “looked very comfortable under center.”
Fellow NFL Prospect Shedeur Sanders even defended Howard.
“I don’t understand you hate on @whoward_, he just won a nightty. It’s hard to throw to WRs that you don’t know, everyone runs routes different!” The former Colorado Buffaloes Quarterback wrote on X.
Howard started his Collegial career in Kansas State and transferred to Ohio State before the beginning of the 2024 season. He led Buckeyes to a national championship.

Howard threw for 4,010 passing yards and 35 touchdown passes in his lonely season in Columbus.
At the combine, he measured a 31.5-inch vertical jump, 9-foot-4-inch wide jump and scored 7.13 seconds in the cone drill and 4.33 seconds in 20-yard shuttle.
