NFL FREE AGENCY: TEE HIGGINS -FRANCHISE labeled by Bengals 2. Year in row

What was expected in Cincinnati with wide receiver tee higgins is official.

The Bengales placed the franchise mark on Higgins for the second year in a row, when the wide recipient confirmed just as much on X when he sent “Tag.”

Then, Cincinnati announced the movement itself and declared their “intention to continue working against a long-lasting deal” with veteran pass-catcher.

Currently, Higgins would be paid $ 26.2 million for the 2025 season if they are unable to reach a long -lasting covenant that they did not last out of season. There is a deadline on July 15 to get the deal done, or Higgins will have to play on his roof.

However, the Bengals are optimistic that they can get something done with a player who has had teammates, including quarterback Joe Burrow and co -recipient Ja’Marr Chase, calls for him to remain in Cincinnati.

Burrow even said he would be “disappointed” if higgins went elsewhere.

However, there is a question about Chase’s long-term contract, as he could very well be the highest paid non-quarter in the league. In fact, GM Duke Tobin said it during his session with journalists at the NFL Scouting Combine this last week.

So where does it leave higgins? Time will show if Bengals can find out with the NFL’s leading bag man from 2024, Trey Hendrickson, also because of being a free agent this season.

Even with Chase, which plays a bigger role for Bengals, Higgins’ production has been some of the best in the league for wide recipients, collected two 1,000-yard seasons in 2021 and 2022, while chopping 73 receptions in 911 yards and 10 touchdowns, a career hill, this last season. And he did it in only 12 games.

However, the Bengals were unable to make the mail season, despite Burrow led the league in passing yards and passers -by touchdowns.

Higgins may be one of the best recipients out there, but the Bengals have not been able to give him the deal he has wanted since the 2023 season when it was first brought up. He was tagged in 2024 and ended up playing on it despite some disputed reports of negotiations.

Higgins has a new agent this season and it’s just as random as Chase.

He was expected to be one of the most sought after free agents this season, but the Bengals will give themselves time to get the deed done with Higgins this time.
