Sharpes Lawyer, Lanny J. Davis, responded to the trial in a long statement The former tight end shared with its social media accounts. In the message, Davis shared sexually explicit messages, which he said the applicant sent to Sharpe.
Davis called the trial “an obvious and cynical attempt to shake Mr. Sharpe down for millions of dollars.”
“It is full of lies, distortions and erroneous representations, and it will not succeed. In her efforts to extract a great financial settlement, [plaintiff] presented Mr. Sharpe with a secretly recorded video of a consensus sexual encounter. We believe that the video has been heavily edited and taken completely out of context, designed for mistaken depiction of a consensual act as a non-consensus. “
Davis said the release of the messages between the plaintiff and Sharpe “clearly indicates that the nature of their relationship was consensus and sexual in nature in many cases initiated by her with specific and graphic requests.”

“Mr. Sharpe categorically denies all accusations of coercion or mismatch – especially the gross lie of ‘rape’ – and will not submit to what he sees as an irregular attempt at extortion,” Davis continued.
“He stands firmly by the truth and is prepared to fight these false claims vigorously before the court. He looks forward to justifying through proper process and a judgment based on the facts and the law.”
