Aaron Rodgers remains a free agent, and the four-time MVP is still tied to Pittsburgh Steelers in the rumors of free agency.

Steelers Star Linebacker Alex Highsmith said Rodgers’ rumors are not a distraction for the team.

“I just feel like in the dressing room and things we’re working in there, and I think that’s just really what it’s all about at this point,” Highsmith said during a performance on NFL Networks “The Insiders” Thursday.

“I know that if he signs, we will definitely be really happy to have him. We know who he is. He is a hall-of-fame quarterback. He is one of the best to ever do it. I would not say it is a distraction at all, but we all know what type of quarterback he is and what he brings to the table.”

Steelers last season went 10-7 with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields as their starting quarterbacks throughout the season. However, both Wilson and Fields left in free agency.

Fields that returned to the New York Jets and Wilson traveled to New York Giants.

Steelers have three quarterbacks on their list-Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson and the sixth round draft of Will Howard. Highsmith is excited about who the team’s quarterback is in week 1.

“I think we’re just trying to put our best foot out every day, as with who’s in the building right now. I know Mason is there he’s done a good job. The guys rallies around him and as I said he’s been with us before and guys know him, Pittsburgh fans know him,” Highsmith said.

“The way he helped us end in 2023 was great. No matter who left there for us, whether it’s him, or if Aaron Rodgers comes, I’ll just come excited. Who’s in there, we want their backs and we want to gather behind them. Just excited the one it becomes.”

With Jets last season, Rodgers threw for 3,987 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 17 games.

It’s back to see if Rodgers decides to play in 2025 or retire after a 20-year-old career on the way to Canton.

Highsmith, for five seasons with Steelers, has had 35.5 sacks in 77 career games and is an important gear in their defense.
