Caleb Williams, the top election in last year’s NFL draft, experienced some heights and lowness in its rookie season.
However, Chicago Bears Quarterback speaks in at least one of the ways he plans to approach his second NFL season. Developing close friendships with other quarterbacks throughout the league is something Williams is simply not interested in.

In an interview with Esquire, the Heisman Trophy winner recognized that other quarterbacks are “probably good guys.” However, he does not necessarily prioritize getting to know any of them at a personal level.

Williams’ rationale centered on his belief that having a strong bond with colleagues could make him lose his competitive advantage. “I think the NFL game has become very friendly and I don’t necessarily want to be friends because I want to keep that competitive advantage,” he said.

Bears ended last season with a disappointing 5-12 record. Bears relieved Matt Eberflus from his main training tasks in November, just one day after he received significant blame for managing the clock in a 23-20 loss to the Detroit Lions.
Eberflus’ almost three-year period in the windy city was destroyed by a flurry of loss of last second and ended up with a six-game losing row. Thomas Brown then became a temporary head coach. Chicago hired Ben Johnson in January.
Bears made a flurry of additions to its list when the NFL Free Agency period opened last month. The team strengthened its offensive line by acquiring the Center Drew Dalman and the guards Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson.
Williams made it clear that winning is the top expectation in 2025. “The plan is to win big,” Williams said.
