Chicago Bears continue to fortify their offensive line.
Bears acquired two-time all-pro-guard Joe Thuney from Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a fourth round election in the 2026 NFL draft, according to several reports.
For Chiefs, Trade with Thuney was allegedly a financial decision as the 32-year-old guard has a CAP fee of almost $ 27 million, something they couldn’t afford. Chiefs released $ 16 million in much needed salary ceiling space to meet other needs.

Thuney slipped over to the left tackle last season for Chiefs and offers much needed stability for quarterback Patrick Mahomes down the stretch after other players fought in the position.
He has been an invaluable member of two different dynasties when he won two Super Bowls with New England Patriots and then two with Kansas City Chiefs.
While losing Thuney, the Chiefs franchise felt the right guard Trey Smith on Tuesday, ensuring that the star liner would not hit free agency.

Mike Caliendo is a candidate for Chiefs to replace Thuney at the left guard when Caliendo played the left guard down the stretch after Thuney switched to the left tackle.
Thuney is the second offensive lineman that the bears allegedly acquired on so many days.
The bears allegedly sent a 2025-round election to acquire Pro Bowl-Guard Jonah Jackson from Los Angeles Rams on Tuesday.
With the acquisitions of both Thuney and Jackson, the bears have fortified their inner offensive line for quarterback Caleb Williams.

The reinforcements are very much needed for Williams as he was the most fired quarterback in the NFL last season, falling behind the line with review 68 times.
Before playing last season with Rams, Jackson spent four seasons with Detroit Lions, where now carries head coach Ben Johnson was his offensive coordinator at Detroit.
Johnson understands the importance of a strong offensive line as his violation in Detroit was based on the strength of their offensive line.
