Kansas City Chiefs overcome some slurry game to pick up their first win of the season against New York Giants Sunday night, 22-9.
Chiefs seemed incredibly stagnant in the first half. Kansas City had a hard time finding out Giants’ defense, and several players fell some key passes. It all changed in the second half when Patrick Mahomes found a rhythm and holes in Giants’ secondary.

Mahomes found Tyquan Thornton for a 5-yard touchdown in the third quarter to give Chiefs a 10-point pillow against Giants. After New York narrowed the deficit to seven points, Mahomes had to play to get Kansas City back on the board.
He found Thornton again for a 33-yard pass for the 1-yard line. Thornton made an acrobatic game that set up driving Kareem Hunt back after a touchdown from the finish line.
Travis Kelce’s own frustrations boiled over in the first half. As he walked off the field after a drive in the second quarter, he and Andy Reid seemed to have words with each other. He focused again in his efforts in the second half and had an important third down on the team’s Touchdown drive in the third quarter.

Kansas City held strong, even when Russell Wilson led the team down the field late in the fourth quarter. Defense frustrated the veteran quarterback enough to look like a shade of himself from last week.
Mahomes ended 22-of-37 with 224 passing yards and a lonely touchdown pass. Thornton led Chiefs with five catches in 71 yards and the scoring. Kelce had four catches in 26 yards.
Chiefs’ defense held Wilson to 160 passing yards. He was fired twice.
Giants Rookie Cam Tax De may have been the only bright spot for Giants. He had 60 rushing yards on 10 bears and a touchdown. He also led the team with six catches in 61 yards.
