Washington commanders Star Wide recipient Terry McLaurin reportedly requested a trade, and head coach Dan Quinn talked about it for the first time on Saturday.
McLaurin, 29, has been present, but does not practice training camp while waiting for a contract extension and he and the commanders do not see an eye.
Quinn said he is happy that McLaurin is attending training camp even if he is not training.

“I’m really glad he’s here,” Quinn said before practice. “I love to coach him, but the business side, it’s kind of where it is. Someone asked me is that a distraction? It’s not.”
McLaurin has one year left of the three -year -old, $ 68 million contract extension he signed in June 2022. He is looking for an agreement that would make him among the NFL’s highest paid broad recipients.
Last season, McLaurin turned one of the best seasons in his career. McLaurin pulled 82 catches in 1,096 yards and had a career high 13 touchdowns. In the playoffs, he continued to produce and caught 14 passports in 227 yards and three touchdowns in three playoffs.

Quinn said McLaurin’s trade request is part of “normal business” in the NFL.
“The players today are more aware of contracts and things than they used to be. They recognize that business part is also happening. So for the team we just rock and throw some good practice. For Terry and the trade requests, man, that’s part of normal business happening around the NFL,” Quinn said.
“We love Terry. I’m really glad he’s here, and hopefully he’s out to practice soon. And we also understand that there’s the business side of these things that (General Manager) Adam (Peters) and his side and Terry and his reps work through.”

Without McLaurin, the broad recipient Deebo Samuel and the tight end Zach Ertz are the top passing opportunities for quarterback Jayden Daniels, this year’s offensive rookie last season.
McLaurin has been the broad recipient # 1 for the commanders throughout his six-year career and has made the Pro Bowl twice.
