NFL News: Cowboys signed Jadeveon Clowney 2 days after arrest

NFL veteran Jadeveon Clowney was arrested on September 12 in Rock Hill, South Carolina, two days before signing with Dallas Cowboys.

Clowney, 32, was arrested for violation and lack of identification, both wrongdoing accusations, according to WSOC-TV 9.

Clowney tried to park in a lot that was closed for parking, but continued to park there despite being told that parking was not allowed, according to police reports.

The three-time Pro Bowl defensive end signed with cowboys just two days after his arrest. Owner Jerry Jones announced that the team had signed Clowney after the team’s exciting overtime victory over New York Giants in week 2.

Clowney spent last season with Carolina Panthers. In 14 games, everyone starts, he recorded 5.5 bags of 46 tackles and nine tackles for loss.

Panthers signed Clowney for a two-year contract of $ 20 million in March 2024, but released him in May 2025 after only one season.

Clowney, No. 1 Overall election in NFL Draft 2014, is set to enter the 12th season of his career. Cowboys are the seventh different teams he has played for.

After being drafted by Houston Texans, he spent five seasons there, one with Seattle Seahawks, one with Tennessee Titans, two with Cleveland Browns, one with Baltimore Ravens and one with Panthers.

In 140 career games, Clowney has 409 total tackles, 58 sacks, an interception, nine fumbles recovery (three for a touchdown) and 108 tackles for loss.
