NFL News: Giants’ Cam Skattebo gives update on injury rehab

Cam Skattebo became a cult hero in the tristate area and catapulted himself into the New York Giants’ top running back.

Skattebo found the end zone seven times in as many games, but early in his eighth he suffered a gruesome injury that required emergency surgery. The runner suffered ligament tears while dislocating his ankle, resulting in a compound wound and replays unsuitable for television.

February 19 is four months since the injury, but Skattebo – without bracing on the radio range – is ready to get back to being an ordinary footballer again.

“I’m feeling good. Getting healthy, a few months out so I’m starting to put it in the past and get over the hard part and get back to work,” Skattebo told Pakinomist Digital.

Unfortunately, several players have suffered similar injuries to Skattebo, but it was San Francisco 49ers star Fred Warner that Skattebo sought advice from. Warner suffered a serious injury just a week before Skattebo.

“I talked to him a couple of times about what he’s doing and how he’s doing. You know, he obviously came back pretty quickly and my situation was different,” Skattebo said. “We were done with the season and had no playoff hopes.

“So the way he pushed himself, I’d do the same thing, you know, even if I didn’t have a season to look forward to, I’d still be in the same situation. So he’s been a big, big asset to me.”

Tyrone Tracy filled in quite nicely after Skattebo was injured, so the G-Men will definitely have the two-headed monster next season.
