NFL News: Giants’ GM says the team will not ‘force’ a quarterback in the NFL draft

New York Giants is in search of a franchise quarterback, but this solution may not come in 2025 NFL draft.

Giants signed both Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston this season, but none of them were handed over long -term contract. Wilson signed for a year and Winston for two.

Giant’s general manager Joe Schoen said that with Wilson and Winston, the team will not “force” a quarterback choice with the No. 3 overall election in next week’s NFL draft.

“With the signing of these two players, I think we are putting ourselves in a position where I do not think it is mandatory or something we have our feet by the fire and we have to do,” Schoen told journalists on Wednesday about choosing a quarterback in the draft.

“The two guys we’ve signed have played a lot of ball, they have a lot of skins on the wall, and I think we’ve upgraded that space compared to where it was a year ago. Tommy (Devito’s) is still in there and he has won games for us and he is still developing. We are happy to makeup of the room right now.”

Tennessee Titans seems familiar with Miami Quarterback Cam Ward, and the expectation is that Titans will choose Ward with the total election # 1.

If the titans actually prepare Ward, Cleveland Browns will have a choice between Heisman Trophy -Winner Travis Hunter, Penn State star Abdul Carter and Colorado Quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

If Browns don’t choose Sanders and he stays in the board for Giants, Scho said the value must match for Giants to take Colorado -Quarterback.

“If the value matches what we have on a player, there is an opportunity to take any position. Don’t want to force it if it’s not the right value. If the board sets up and we’re on the clock and that’s the position we’ll go with, we’ll go with it,” Schoen said.

Giants have done extensive work on a bunch of quarterbacks as they are set to host Sanders, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe and Louisville’s Tyler Shough for private training, per. Fox Sports.

If they choose not to make Sanders with the total election # 3, Giants could still choose a quarterback with one of their mid-round choices, especially with the total election # 34 at the top of the second round.
