Detroit Lions Cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. was placed on an injured reserve with a season ending injury on Thursday. Then he went to social media to ask for the negative messages he apparently received to stop.
Rakestraw, 23, injured his shoulder during a tackle drill on Sunday and underwent seasonal closing surgery on Thursday.
He first went to social media after surgery on Friday with a positive message.

“God has all the answers and I will never question him .. But really upset #detroit,” Rakestraw published to X.
An hour after he sent it, Rakestraw took to X to ask fans.
“And quit (direct messages) me and say I’m about to be cut,” Posted Rakestraw.
Lions chose Rakestraw with their second round election in the 2024 NFL draft of Missouri. However, Rakestraw played only eight games last year due to injury.

Rakestraw did not start any of these games and accumulated six combined tackles.
Lions head coach Dan Campbell expressed sympathy for Rakestraw.
“You hate it for the child,” Campbell said earlier this week. “It’s not his fault, just one of the hard deals. All you can do is try to get better and rehabilitize, get back stronger and move on.”

Rakestraw played in the Hall of Fame game last week against Los Angeles Chargers as they lost 34-7.
Rakestraw played all four seasons at Missouri. In 36 career games he had 107 combined tackles, 24 passports defense, one interception, three forced fumbles and a fumble improvement.
