Since four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers remains in the free agency pool, another potential option may have opened to him in the NFL.
New Orleans Saints could be desperate for a veteran option on the position of news that Derek Carr’s 2025 season could be at risk due to a shoulder injury.
NFL Network reports that surgery may be an option for Carr, “threatening his accessibility for this season.”

Damage was a theme in Carr’s second year in New Orleans last season as he missed seven games last year due to a concussion and broken hand.
Now, with his season in Jeopardy, the saints might use Rodgers to see if the big one is easily a place he would have his head next year.

It was therefore expected that Rodgers would be on his way to the steel city, but he has not made his intentions known yet. Minnesota Vikings still remain an option, but the organization is firm by JJ McCarthy, their first round of choices last season, which had to miss all year due to injury, is their start to camp.
As for the saints, Carr’s absence for the season would leave the quarterback position up to Spencer Rattler or Jake Haener, as the depth card sounds. Rattler filled in for Carr during his injuries last year and it did not work for the fifth round of 2024 when he went 0-6 in his six starts.
While Rodgers may be an option, the ninth overall choice belongs to the saints this year and they will be an interesting team to look at. Could they move up over other quarterback needle teams to neighbor their potential quarterback in the future?

It is worth noting that Carr has only one year left on his deal with the saints before becoming a free agent in 2027.
Rodgers, 41, comes out of an unsuccessful period with the New York Jets, which goes 6-12 in its 18 starts with the team.
