NFL News: Rams releases Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams advance from one of the franchise staples.

The organization announced on Wednesday that they have released Cooper Kupp, who once considered the best wide recipient in the game.

Kupp revealed in a social media post last month that the team “sought a trade right and will work with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships.”

Kupp admitted that he did not “agree with the decision and always thought it would begin and end in LA”

The soon-to-be 32-year-old has been mirrored with injuries ever since he took the receiving Triple Crown home in 2022 and won the Super Bowl MVP. He has played on only 33 of possible 51 matches in the last three seasons, and while he has been productive, he has taken a back seat to Puka Nacua, even while on the field.

His 710 receiving yards last year was his lowest since he set 566 in 2018, a season in which he missed half the matches. He has not played in over 12 games since the 2022 campaign and has not darkened the 1,000-yard brand since then.

Rams expanded Matthew Stafford earlier this season and also agreed to bring Davante Adams into a two-year deal after he looked like his all-pro-self with Aaron Rodgers under his short New York Jets Stint.
