NFL News: Seahawks -Star reportedly requests trade shortly after teammate’s release

Seattle Seahawk’s wide receiver room is designed to look very different later in the year.

Within only several minutes of each other, news broke out that long -standing staples of Tyler Lockett are ready to be released, while DK Metcalf has reportedly requested a trade.

For Lockett, the move was somewhat expected as he approached 33 years, but Metcalf’s reported Ask seemed to be quite surprise.

Metcalf, another round out of Ole Miss in 2019, has been stout since blinking his freakishly athletic body in front of the year’s NFL scouting combination. He is over 900 meters in each of his first six NFL seasons and has darkened 1,000 meters in half of them (he had 992 in 15 games this season).

The 27-year-old inked a $ 72 million deal ahead of the 2022 season expiring after this season, and you can’t knock Seahawks for noticing to have expanded soon to be a third-year-old Receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba next year.

“JSN” broke out in his second campaign, leading Seattle with 100 receptions, 1,130 yards and six touchdowns, and easily became their top goals. All of these statistics were ahead of Metcalf’s line 66-992-5.

This season’s free agent class of wide recipients would have been elite maybe four years ago as there are plenty of decent resumes available. But many are on the back of their careers, so the requested price for Metcalf could be quite high. There are also plenty of teams out there that can use a top notch receiver.

Maybe the Seahawks also want to turn attention to Quarterback Geno Smith, who is ready to become an unlimited free agent next year when he turns 36 years old.

After it looked like his career was going to an early exit, he has been everything the team could have hoped for since he became their full-time starts in 2022. In these three seasons he is 27-22 with a 68.5 completion percentage, 12,226 yards, 71 touchdowns and only 35 captures. It was a long way for Smith, a backup was a backup from 2015 to 2021 after failing as Jets’ Starter.

During his 10-year period with Seattle, Lockett caught 661 passports, 61 of them touchdowns, for 8,594 yards, which darkened 1,000 meters in each year from 2019 to 2022.
