Smith said of “First Take”, he knew the comments were not about Sanders. Still, he called Gabriel’s comments about the media “stupid”.
“I never thought he was talking about the shedur Sanders. I believed in him completely when he said he was talking about the media. I will get out of the way first,” Smith said. “I think when you heard the comparisons, I think the comparisons came from the media more than anyone else. … After saying it, Dillon Gabriel, respectfully, was stupid. A very stupid comment to come with.
“First and foremost, in every life watch far beyond the parameters of the football field, people compete. We compete here on TV. You compete with radio programs. You compete on Wall Street. You compete at Madison Avenue. Everything, especially in America, which it relates to a capitalist society, involves competition. Surely, the world when we see things are being globalized more and more every day.

Smith said to him, the comment was a reverberation from the pressure that Gabriel felt in his quarterback match with Sanders. He warned the former Oregon Ducks star that he is better prepared for the increased control level that comes his way.
“It was a stupid, idiotic, immature comment because you clearly felt the heat because many people talked about how shed watch should be QB # 2., but I know he wasn’t talking about Shedeur Sanders,” Smith added. “He talked about the media. But here’s the problem – you have now increased the level of control that comes your way because the media, including myself, heard what you said.
“So in other words, ‘it’s entertainment – it’s not competition.’ Really?
