NFL announced on Tuesday that Houston Texans Safety Jimmie Ward was placed on the reserve/commissioner’s list of exemptions.
Ward, 34, is facing a crime of domestic violence that stems from an arrest in June. He was indicted for assault on a family or household member after a woman told the authorities that Ward strangled and threatened her, according to police records.
Ward was again arrested in August for violating bail on this charge.

Players on the commissioner’s exemption list may not participate in practice or games. The length of time on the list is determined by Commissioner Roger Goodell.
“We are aware of the report involving Jimmie Ward. We collect information and have no further comments at this time,” the Texans said in a statement to NFL.com in June.
Ward was charged with physically and sexually assaulted the mother of his 3-year-old son while under the influence of Crystal Meth, according to a trial filed last week in Texas.
The trial accused Ward of strangling Cristy West, whom he was in a long -term relationship, and is looking for more than $ 20 million in compensation. West is represented by Tony Buzbee, who has represented many victims in many high -profile sexual abuse and domestic violence.

Steve Jackson, Ward’s Attorney, told KPRC 2 That the trial was previously filed in Montgomery County and was rejected.
“This is the same civil trial filed against Mr. Ward by other lawyers who also previously tried and failed in a jury attempt to prove that Jimmie was married to Mrs. West. It is our intention at this time to focus on the criminal accusations and the upcoming Grand Jury in the hope that this case was rejected.”
Pakinomist Digital reached out to Ward’s representatives of comment, but did not get an answer immediately.
Ward had not practiced during training camp while dealing with a foot injury and was placed on the physically unable to perform the list.
He goes into his third season with the Texans and the 12th in his career. Ward spent the first nine seasons in his career with San Francisco 49ers.

Last season, Ward served as a team captain. In 10 games, Ward had 48 combined tackles, two interceptions and four passports defended. One of his interceptions was returned for a touchdown.
CJ Gardner-Johnson and Calen Bullock are expected to start in safety for Houston in Ward’s absence.
