NFL receiver Diontae Johnson breaks silence on the Raven’s cold weather suspension

Veteran NFL recipient Diontae Johnson fits three different teams last season, including a short and seemingly harmless stint with Baltimore Ravens So that Wideout was suspended and waived after only four matches with the team.

Johnson who signed with Cleveland Browns During the high season, his silence broke on this month on what ultimately led to this suspension.

During a performance on “Sports and suits” Podcast, Johnson, revealed that it was the cold weather in Ravens’ Week 13 -Matchup against Philadelphia Eagles, which caused him to refuse to go back in the game after the broad recipient Rashod Bateman went down with an injury in the third quarter.

“It was cold. So I’m on the sidelines, just standing there, just go to the heater – back and forth – just waiting to hear my name called. So, the end of the third goes into the fourth they are like ‘tae, we need you.’ I’m like ‘nah.’ For me, I think, ‘I don’t think it’s a good idea for me,’ because I was thinking, like my legs – I don’t want to go out there and put bad things on movies.

“It’s not like I wouldn’t go in the game, but you have to think, like leading up to this point I had been through so much.”

Johnson, who is not stranger to cold weather games after five seasons with Pittsburgh Steelers, explained that it was more than just the free temps that kept him out of the game.

“I had checked out mentally. I was like ‘no matter what happens is happening.’ I just rolled with the beats at the time.

Johnson was suspended from Ravens’ Week 14 -Se win over New York Giants and was then apologized from all team activities the following week. Then he was waived by the Ravens. He explained that he requested him to be released.

“I already knew if I went back, I should be in the dog house even more,” he said. “So I just asked to be released and I was picked up by Houston.”

Johnson was traded to Carolina Panthers in March 2024 and was then sent to Baltimore mid -season. After he was released by Ravens, he signed with Houston Texans, where he appeared in a game before he was waived.

He signed a one -year deal with Browns this season, joining a reception room that does not have many viable options than Jerry Jeudy.

As for the weather in Cleveland, Johnson already knows what’s waiting for him.

“I don’t even try to think about it.”
