Wallers undergoing performance in 2023 was followed by a pension message.

“I have decided to retire from the football game,” Waller wrote in a social media post in June 2024. “To God: What Journey, and Thank you. We took it far further than I could have ever imagined! So grateful for all that [people] I have been able to connect and create memories along the way. We still have much more life left to live. Love you all. Peace.”

But after sitting out in the 2024 season, Waller returned to football in 2025. The 33-year-old has experienced a resurgence with Miami Dolphins this season and scored four receiving touchdowns in only three games.

During a recent performance at “The Schultz Report” podcast, Waller took a moment to reflect on his time with Big Blue.

“There were other things I was also underwent in my life that made me feel like I had to go away, which I wanted to be a wise decision,” Waller said of his thinking that led to his short -term pension.

Waller added that the Giants coaching staff did not take advantage of him effectively.

“But at that time … The frustration may not have been directly with it because I will do something dirty S —. You have to if you are a good teammate. But I don’t really want to be put in positions for what made me unique to shine. That’s what the frustration probably came from more.”

Former Georgia Tech star suggested that he be asked to perform tasks more commonly associated with a full back than a tight end. “I filled through the B -Gorge, hit linebackers, and ran Pindrtres. You don’t get the best out of me doing it.”

Giants still had Waller’s contract rights after he finished his pension. The dolphins sent a 2026 sixth round election to Giants in exchange for Waller and a late round draft.

The dolphins have dropped two consecutive matches and go into a week 7-match with Cleveland Browns with a 1-5 record.
