NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell talked about the possibility of an 18-match normal season in front of the Super Bowl Lix during a press conference Monday.
Goodell said there is “a lot of work to be done” before he expanded the season to 18 games and said he has had no formal discussions with the players’ union about adding a game.

“If we do (expansion), 18 (regular seasonal matches) and two (Forsy season) can be an option,” Goodell said.

“We know fans love football and they want more football, but we have to be incredibly sensitive and smart with the balance and how we handle it.”
Goodell said that the changes made by the league to reduce concussions and other injuries have made another game more possible. He talked in April about “The Pat McAfee Show” about his desire to expand the NFL season to 18 games instead of the 17 gaming season right now.
The NFL jumped to 17 games before the 2021 season as they went from playing 16 regular seasonal matches and four for -season matches to 17 regular seasonal matches and three for -season matches.
If the NFL decides to extend the regular season, the Super Bowl would then be pushed back to Presidents’ Day Weekly.
