Carolina Hurricanes spelled elimination and avoided being swept when they defeated Florida Panthers 3-0 on Monday night at the Amerant Bank Arena.
With the victory, the hurricanes are now tracking Panthers 3-1 in the best-of-the-seven series. Hurricanes had lost their former 15 Eastern Conference final matches before Monday’s win.
They were swept in 2009, 2019 and 2023, and they fell the first three matches in this matchup against Panthers.

Logan Stankoven gave Hurricanes their first lead of the series as he buried a wrist shot past the Panthers’ goalkeeper Sergei Bobrovsky on midway through the second period.
The Stankova gave the honor to Alexander Nikishin, who set him up with a cross-pass.
“It all starts with him,” said Stankoven about Nikishin’s passport. “Great game of him.”

Hurricanes goalkeeper Frederik Anderson started games 1 and 2 and was drawn in favor of Pyotr Kochetkov for games 3. Head coach Rod Brind’amor went back to Anderson to Game 4, and the goalkeeper stopped all 20 of the shots he was facing.
“There were some really hard shots that looked easy tonight,” Brind’amor said of Anderson. “That’s when you know he’s really on.”
Hurricans sealed their victory with a few empty goals at the end of the game as Sebastian Aho and Jordan Stall scored to secure the victory in the diminishing minutes of the third period.

“Credit to them … They were good,” said Panthers -coach Paul Maurice.
Panthers were short -handed in the loss when Sam Reinhart, Nike Mikkola and AJ Greer everyone didn’t play.
Panthers will have another chance to squeeze and move on to the Stanley Cup final when they take on the hurricanes in Game 5 on Wednesday at. 20 one at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.
