- Nintendo has updated Switch ESHOP’S DISCOUNTIFIED to filter cheap, “Skovlware” game
- The ESHOP charts have been reworked to show how sales are calculated and ranks games based on revenue from sales in the last 72 hours instead
- The Best Sellers tab now showing games “With the highest sale in the last three days”
Nintendo has quietly updated the Nintendo Switch Eshop and how charts work by filtering cheap games and “slop”.
This change comes from the latest Switch System update in preparation for the Nintendo Switch 2 launch next month, but was overlooked due to the patch’s other important features.
As discovered by the VGC, the eShop charts have been reworked to show how sales are calculated. Before the update, Digital Storefront counted the number of games sold over the past 48 hours and ranked them on the charts, but now it ranks games based on revenue from sales in the last 72 hours instead.
The before the update tab showed the Best Seller’s software titles “With most downloads in the last two weeks”, but it now shows Games “With the Highest Sales in the Last Three Days” (via GVG).
Nintendo has essentially changed how discouragement works on the eShop, including the tab of the current offer that brings its best -selling software to the forefront and filtering out “Skovlware” games that clogged the store.
This change also means that cheap games that are clustered out do not automatically come to the top of the charts due to their low prices that prioritize larger, more popular titles.
However, finding new indie games will be a little more difficult. The store’s Discover tab primarily offers first-party Nintendo titles, while other tabs have been curated for what is popular, like AAA playing with full price and what sells the most.
In case you missed it, Nintendo Switch 2 is launched on June 5, 2025 for $ 449.99 / £ 395.99 or $ 499.99 / £ 429.99 for it Mario Kart World bundle.
The British pre -orders and US pre -orders are now live.
