- Nintendo has released a new poster for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
- It comes ahead of the film’s final trailer, which will be released on Monday, March 9
- The artwork reveals that two classic villains will appear in the animated film
Another new poster The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (TSMGM) has been revealed by Nintendo – and it confirms that two more Mario villains will appear in the long-awaited sequel.
Released today (March 6th), the artwork features plenty of familiar faces, including *deep breath* Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, Bowser, Rosalina, Bowser Jr and Birdo. However, look under Birdo and Yoshi and you’ll be able to see a certain crown-bearing frog.

Only the oldest of Nintendo fans will immediately recognize this person. For the rest of you, it’s Wart.
“Um, who?”, I hear you ask. Wart. You know, the primary antagonist of Super Mario Bros. 2who also wants to conquer Subcon, aka Dreamland, with his gang known as the 8 Bits. Not really any bells? Stop reading this article and go play Super Mario Bros. 2 immediately.
Wart isn’t the only enemy recently confirmed in the sequel to the billion dollar spinoff The movie Super Mario Bros. Look just above Wart on the poster and you’ll also see a rodent wearing sunglasses.
For the uninitiated, it’s Mouser, another villain who appeared in Super Mario Bros. 2 that players are tasked with defeating three times in said game. Considering Wart and Birdo – the latter also appeared as a bad guy (or should that be bad girl?) in the aforementioned Nintendo title, it was highly likely that Mouser would appear in TSMGMalso.
There’s no word on how big of a role Wart, Mouser, and Birdo will have, nor do we know which of the film’s heroes they’ll encounter. My best guess? They’ll be secondary villains to Bowser and his son, with the pair facing off against Mario and Luigi, and Wart and company being the big bads that Peach and Toad will encounter no matter what side mission they’re on.
One of the most exciting new films of the year already looks pretty packed on the cast front, but there are sure to be more surprises in store for audiences. In fact, one of them has already been spoiled ahead of time, with one Super Mario Galaxy movie the leak seemingly confirmed that another major franchise character will appear.
Will they be officially announced before The Super Mario Galaxy Moviecoming out on april 1st? Who knows. What we do know, however, is that the film’s final trailer will premiere it Monday 9 March at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 10pm GMTso be sure to tune in to the next Nintendo Direct to see it.
