Nintendo has officially confirmed Super Mario Galaxy movie is the title of the next animated movie.
The sequel to Nintendo and Universal’s Multi-Billion Dollar-Spinning First Venture, alias Super Mario Bros. -The moviewas announced in September 2025’s Nintendo Direct Live Show. The title that revealed was accompanied by a teaser trailer and the first crew, plus a reminder that Mario’s next big screen adventure arrives on April 3, 2026.
For those who are not aware of, the title Nintendo and Universal’s latest silver screen team-up takes his signal from the Japanese game manufacturer Super Mario Galaxy series. The two posts of the underfranchis see the legendary plumber take a trip into outer space after Bowser does what he does best: Kidnapping of Princess Peach and imprisoned her, for he is a bowser.
Speaking during this month’s Nintendo Direct Livestream, but Chris Meledandri, founder of Animation Company Illumination that made Super Mario Bros. -The movie and will lead the development of his successor, said GalaxyAnimated adaptation will not be a one-to-one translation of the story that plays out in both games.

Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Peach), Charlie Day (Luigi), Jack Black (Bowser), Keegan-Michael Key (Toad) and Kevin Michael Richardson (Kamkk) were all confirmed to return. Yoshi is also ready to be in this flick after his performance was teased in Super Mario Bros. -The movie‘s mid-credits scene, although a voice actor was not revealed to everyone’s favorite green dinosaur. Rosalina, a great supportive role crew in Galaxy Games, all are confirmed to appear by default as well.
Oddly enough, Seth Rogen who expressed Donkey King in Super Mario Bros. -The movieWas not named next to his occurrence co -stars. But with rumors circulating that Nintendo’s great monkey is able to star in his own solo -animated film, this is the probable reason for his absence in Super Mario Galaxy movie.
Elsewhere, Nintendo -President Shigeru Miyamoto said Super Mario Galaxy movie will overwrite Mario’s 40 -Year anniversary celebration, running for a whole 2026. Hopefully we don’t have to wait until this year’s trip to an actual trailer.
